The BLAST Mural project was a collaborative project through Blackrock education center whereby an artist is placed on residency within a school. This provided a wonderful opportunity for Sandford Art students to work with Dublin based street artist, Shane Ha. The design for the mural was created in collaboration with input from the students, as they were given the opportunity to submit some ideas in the early stages of the process. The design took it's final shape in the form of a griffin in Sandford colours lifting weights which is fitting as it is being painted on two walls in the school gym. There was total of 11 students ranging from 1st to 6th taking part in this project with the artist.
